Babies & Beans

The purpose of this trip to New York was for me to meet James's and my new godchild, who was due late January/early February. With some of the usual Space A travel craziness (namely our C-5 turning around midair and waiting a few days for it to be cleared for takeoff again), we thought I wouldn't make it in time to greet the new little miss or mister, but it turned out that we arrived with a few days to spare! This was the second time that I have been blessed to witness the miracle of birth, and what an amazing and overwhelming thing it is. Mama did amazing, and their delivery surprise turned out to be a sweet baby boy! AJ was able to meet him the next morning and was so intrigued by this tiny little person. He wanted to hold him and kiss him, and kept showing me that the baby had a hat on just like his hat. It was so heartwarming to see him treat this little baby with such kindness and gentleness.

Walking the halls to get labor moving.

Three quarters of one of the most incredible families we know!

Sweet little Marcus Andrew!

Big brother Victor holding his little brother for the first time the next morning.

That sweet little face breaks my heart. I love that boy so much already!

On a (very) different note, our kind and gentle boy is also such a goober. Because do you know what he asked to have for breakfast this morning? Beans. Black beans. Not the waffle I made him. Not cereal. Beans. And do you know what he wanted to follow it up with? Sour cream. Yep, sour cream with a spoon right out of the little cup. And then, when the spoon didn't cut it, he cut to the chase and just slurped it right up. Oh, my boy... You do keep life interesting!
