Surprise!

Yesterday morning, I got a phone call from my mom asking if AJ could come out and play. I thought she was just being goofy, so I told her that he was sleeping. She asked if she could come in, and hung up the phone. I was so confused; I glanced out the sliding doors, and there she was, coming around the corner! AJ's just been soaking up all of the attention. Today, we took him swimming at my parents' hotel. He was so calm and relaxed the whole time, and just hung out. Not particularly thrilled, but definately content.

After the pool, we went out to the courtyard to warm up, and then let AJ hang out inside for a few minutes before heading upstairs. Of course, this silly little boy chooses the moment when he is laying at the edge of a table to roll over for the first time! So, my mom had to stop him from making it all the way over, but trust me, he was there! Totally there. As would be expected, he hasn't done it since... Oh well, there's always tomorrow!

When we went back upstairs to their room, all that swimming and playing had really tired him out! I thought he'd be out for a long while, but after a quick thirty-minute power nap, he was up again, ready to go!

Earlier yesterday morning (before my parents got there), AJ and I were looking out at the patio when we saw the biggest, most beautiful butterfly checking out our flowers. It was the kind you pay to go see - huge and gorgeous. I was excitedly pointing her out to AJ, not really thinking he had any idea what I was trying to show him. Still, I was really thrilled to see this butterfly, and to my delight when she started flying around the patio, AJ followed her every move with wide, curious eyes! After she landed on our flowers again, I tried grabbing the camera to get a picture, but with AJ bouncing on my hip (and the wrong setting on the camera) this was the best shot I could get before she flew away:

We're going to take him to the Botanical Gardens in Norfolk soon to see the butterflies there; I can't wait to see that look of wonder on his face again, and to get some pictures this time!
